I’ve Got It All (Most) by Modest Mouse

This is the final track off their 2009 No One’s First and You’re Next EP—which I originally couldn’t handle, but, like all MM, has since grown on me in a big way.

Instrumentally, I actually prefer Satellite Skin and (the last half of) Guilty Cocker Spaniels, but I can relate to this track quite a bit right now. Especially the line: “how can someone inconsistent mess up so consistently.”

A bunch of my stuff broke after paintballing for the first time in 5+ years last month, and my replacement parts arrived today. Now everything I need is back up to spec—got a new tank, some matte hopper shells, and even snagged a sweet $150 Shocktech Ion body for $30. As you can see, it looks fairly fucking awesome, and, moreover, makes me miss my paintball days quite a bit.

Remember this one?

Drinking in L.A. by Bran Van 3000

Such an incredibly chill groove, plus the 90s nostalgia factor is off the charts. Enjoy it… “it’s a beautiful day.”

The Old Man’s Back Again by Scott Walker

It was extremely hard to pick one and only one song from Air’s Late Night Tales album: it is simply the best compilation of its kind I’ve yet heard (and there are lots of great ones). I mean, implanted nostalgia aside, the instrumental diversity and ‘nightly’ atmospherics these tunes manage to produce is not just groove-able, it’s “Summer,” for me.

Please listen to it— then, one day, come watch the stars with me, or some equally cool adventure :)

Man, just thinking ahead to summer makes me so excited.I can’t wait to do this jump again!

kristar:

I watched this sunset for 9 nights. Another night I watched the sun set as I swam in an infinity pool that just touched the edge of the ocean, i floated, felt weightless, as this song played behind me. Carolina in my mind is that state of mind. That place where no matter what is going on, or who you miss, what you’ve left behind, or what has left you behind… that you can be completely present in a moment. Selfish and selfless. Its like to some extent death. Just peaceful and letting go of everything and everyone, watching a sunset like a fire, just letting it memorize you, captivate you, restore you. Nobody matters. Just you and that sun. this song says it all, please listen, you’ll know exactly what I mean if you’ve been there. If you’ve ever sat by the ocean at night with a full moon watching the waves roll in, and feeling small, feeling greatful for feeling small again. You’ll know.

Do read the full post, too.
