This song is really, really good. I hadn’t really thought the Velvet Underground made the kind of music I liked, until now.

Vomit by Girls

This song is too good to stop raving about.

Pink Floyd would be so proud.

Please, please stick around to the sixth minute—you won’t be disappointed.

I realize the title is iffy.

Outta My System by My Morning Jacket

This only (very) rarely happens, but I’m posting a song whose lyrics directly reference things that I’m currently thinking about. Bonus: this band is seriously legit, and this album especially so.

I’ll post another track tomorrow, because this one is far from the best on the disc.

Awesome Japanese post-rocky band. (stolen from r/listentothis)

Promises, Promises (unreleased Incubus cover) by YouTubers Clay and Nick

Incubus has a new album coming out soon (one month today: July 12), so they set up a contest where they released the sheet music (and only the sheet music!) and had fans submit their own interpretations/covers. This video is by far my favourite of the 30 or so entries I’ve watched. It’s close enough to the real version to jive with me, plus the djembe drum + full drum kit are just fucking sick (definitely stick around for those to pick up round the first chorus— so epic!)

All of them, however, seriously impressed me with how talented musically-inclined people are. Here are some of my other favs: one (starts off a little creepy), two (hilarious), three (a little douchey).

I have to say, at first I wasn’t very impressed by Incubus’ new album, If Not Now, When?, but it’s definitely grown on me. It’s (band-admittedly) more ‘written’ in a musical sense, which takes away from what I LOVE about Light Grenades’ rougher melodies—plus the lyrics come off a little juvenile at times—but overall is a pretty solid album worth checking out.

Container Park by The Chemical Brothers

From the Hanna OST—the score being the best part of the movie, without a doubt.

This isn’t really a song, nor is the album really listenable as anything but background noise, but it is all very cinematic—and this track in particular was one of my favourites during the film—so it’s quite visually appealing noise, for me.

If you stick through it long enough I’m sure you’ll also realize how well it works (or will work, if you haven’t seen the film yet) during a stop-and-go action scene… in a container park.
