Have you seen, or at least heard of, the outstanding movie Network (Lumet, 1976)?
Well that was kind of a rhetorical question because either way, you should check out this video if you are at all interested in: the world, the media, or have ever watched the TV news (without cringing in disgust). It’s called Spin (Brian Springer, 1995), and I feel it’s a video more people should - at the very least - know exists.
It’s about an hour long, so don’t expect some shitty 2000’s era hip-hop youtube music video, but in light of it’s length I feel I should probably describe what it is and why it’s worth watching: basically, the filmmaker intercepted free/legally received satellite feeds (back in the day when they were dumb enough to do this) and compiled a set of relevant, often eye-opening, sometimes hilarious, and definitely shocking, clips of 90’s era politicians on camera — when they didn’t realize they were being filmed.
Basically, it shows a - yes! believe it or not: BALANCED - perspective aimed more at unveiling the true nature of politicians and the media and their respective agendas, rather than siding with or against any given opinions. Seriously though, it is remarkably unbiased! There are just as many, if not more, blunders by Clinton + Gore as there are by Bush Sr. Although, that said, one of the best moments (IMO) is the montage of a prominent christian evangelist being an outright despicable lying hypocrite, on top of being a serious douche-bag in general.
To sum up: as far as the 90’s go, this is definitely a diamond in the rough. :)
