So last night it was really fucking hot in my room and I couldn’t sleep / wanted to do some idea generating for a short film, so I went up to my roof and camped out there for the first time ever. Needless to say, it was totally, totally awesome. I could see the stars, I had a clear head, it was perfect temperature in my sleeping bag, and I even dozed super well. Brief 4am rain-shower was epic fun and ultra relaxing/calming. I recommend more people try this, so long as you won’t get robbed, or roll off your roof in the middle of the night, or live by really noisy streets, or are afraid of trying new things.
As awful as it sounds (esp. coming from my privileged, upper-middle-class ass), being homeless would have it’s perks, albeit they’d be rather scarce, limited, and taken from a different perspective. At the very least, I think last night gave me a deeper appreciation for what it’s like to live without many of the luxuries I have. I think I might do that “Campout for the Homeless” event at Uni this year; it’d be sweet to be living outside, chillin’ with cool people, etc for a few days, methinks.
