As much as I want to talk for days about how much I enjoyed tonight’s CIFF screening of The Illusionist (Sylvain Chomet, UK/France, 2010), I think the charm of the film exists uniquely in the first person. None of the trailers, stills or reviews I’ve since discovered manage to convey the fascinating subtlety of the film’s comedy, nor how much of a complete delight it was to witness such a vivid, mimetic, and elegant throwback to Tati’s work and character.
Without a doubt 10/10.

It ain’t a Saturday night without the Freaks and Geeks boxset and a glass of wine. At least not in this house.
